WTEN: Bulldogs Sign Transfer from Penn State

Frederikke Svarre set to join the Zags in 2021

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis head coach D.J. Gurule announced the signing of Frederikke Svarre, a transfer from Penn State University. Svarre will join the Zags as a graduate transfer in the fall of 2021.
 
"We are so excited to add a player of Freddie's caliber to the Zags," Gurule said. "She will bring a wealth of energy and experience to our program!"

Svarre, a native of Hillerød, Denmark, will arrive as a graduate transfer in the fall of 2021 following four years at Penn State. During her time in State College, Pa., Svarre played in 90 total singles matches over her fall and spring seasons and 78 total doubles matches. In the fall of 2018, Svarre reached the quarterfinals in doubles play at the ITA Regionals, and in the spring in 2019 she opened the season with nine-straight victories in doubles play.
 
Svarre is a stellar performer in the classroom as well, as she was selected as an ITA Scholar Athlete in the spring of 2019. She was also selected to the Dean's List six-straight semesters from spring 2018-fall 2020.
 
Prior to her collegiate career, Svarre was the 18U Danish Junior Champion in singles, and in 2015 she was the 18U Danish Junior Champion in singles and mixed doubles. Svarre earned her first two WTA ranking points in 2015, followed with her third WTA ranking point in 2017.
 
Svarre on why she chose Gonzaga: I'm super excited to close out my college career at Gonzaga, and I can't wait to meet the team. I'm looking forward to the 2021-22 season.
