PORTLAND, Ore. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team had a tough, 4-1, loss to the University of Portland in a mid-week matchup.
In the first half, the Pilots (8-5-0, 3-1 West Coast Conference) got on the board first with a goal from Gurman Sangha, which was assisted by Luke Hendel, in the 18th minute.
Freshman Logan Dorsey scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs (7-7-0, 2-2 WCC) in the 19th minute by cashing in on a penalty kick.
Portland scored its second goal of the game in the 42nd minute with a goal from Ben Oritz and assisted by R.J. Stretch.
Going into the half down, 2-1, the Zags kept the pressure as they had two goals waived off due to being offsides.
In the 76th minute, Hendel scored his second goal of the night for the Pilots. The last goal for Portland was a penalty kick goal from Jacob Balai in the 79th minute.
Gonzaga took eight shots on the night and Dorsey led the team with three.
