"Steady play by most of the guys today," GU Head Coach
Robert Gray said. "Charlie with another under par round at this course, where he's had a lot of success and low rounds over the years. Zach and Matt struck the ball really well all day and burned a lot of edges on putts. Jace got off to a rocky start but hung in there to post a usable round. Not the best day for Andrew but he'll do better going forward. Had a rough start at his last event too (which was his first) but he played the final 36 holes better than the rest of the team. Just one of those days today. The team score keeps us in it to end with our best finish of the fall season."
Boise State and Kansas are tied at the top of the team leaderboard after the first round. The two teams each shot 16-under (268). Boise State's Hugo Townsend leads all individuals at seven-under (64). Loyola Maryland's Brandon Berry sits one stroke behind Townsend at six-under (65).
Action continues Saturday as the second round begins at 8 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time. Live scoring will be available at GoZags.com.
