Men's Soccer Falls to St. Mary's, 3-1

The team honored nine seniors pregame for Senior Night

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team hosted Senior Night at Luger Field on Saturday night as they fell 3-1 to the St. Mary's Gaels.

St. Mary's (10-6-1, 3-2-1 West Coast Conference) got on the board first with a goal from Valentine Kurz in the third minute of the first half.

In the 35th minute, the Zags (7-9-0, 2-4 WCC) responded with a penalty kick goal from freshman Logan Dorsey to tie it all up.

In the 41st minute, the Gaels scored with a goal from Riley Lynch, assisted by Andrew Rotter, to make it 2-1. In the 60th minute, Saint Mary's scored a goal after drawing a penalty at the top of the box. Boyd Curry got the score for the Gaels.

Overall, the Zags were outshot 11-8 as the Gaels had three shots on goal compared to Gonzaga's one. Redshirt sophomore Johan Garibay came off the bench and recorded one save.

SENIORS
The team honored nine seniors before the game, including goalkeeper Thomas Ewert, earning his first start of his career. The other seniors were Noah Bushey, Matt Kintzle, Frankie Ljucovic, Ethan Watkins, Joe Corner, Theo O'Malley, and Chase Howat. Sam Turner was also honored after being part of the 2021 spring team.
