SAN MATEO, Calif. – Three players were selected Preseason All-WCC and Gonzaga was selected to finish second in the West Coast Conference in the women's rowing preseason poll, released by league officials Tuesday afternoon. The poll is voted on by the league's seven coaches.
Since 2012, the Bulldogs have been selected first or second in every single WCC preseason poll. This season, Gonzaga picked up three first-place votes and 32 total points for second in the preseason poll; San Diego had three first-place votes and 33 total points to earn the top spot. Loyola Marymount, with one first-place vote and 28 total points, was selected third.
Portland (18 points, fourth place), Creighton (14 points, fifth place), Saint Mary's (13 points, sixth place) and Santa Clara (nine points, seventh place) rounded out the final seven.
Three Zags were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Rowing team, led by senior rower and two-time All-WCC performer
Lauren McCallum. Sophomore rower
Grace Dojan, who rowed with the varsity eight in both time trials during the fall of 2019, earned her first Preseason All-WCC nod, while senior
Zoe Calambokidis, a 2019 All-WCC performer, picked up her first Preseason All-WCC nod as well.
