SPOKANE, Wash. – Portland picked up a 2-1 road win over Gonzaga men's soccer Sunday at Luger Field.
The Pilots (2-2-1, 1-1-1 West Coast Conference) held possession for 55 percent of the match, and outshot GU, 16-2. Both of the Zags' shots were on goal, while six of Portland's were on frame. Additionally, the Pilots led in corner kicks with five, compared to the Bulldogs' three.
In the 37th minute, Luke Hendel scored on a penalty kick to give the Pilots the lead. Just before halftime, Miguel Yuste, assisted by Miles Robinson and Caua Soares, scored again for Portland. The Bulldogs (2-7-0, 0-4-0 WCC) scored right after the break in the 46th minute. Gideon Davis found the back of the net for the first time this season. Andres Labate was credited with the assist.
Gonzaga's goalkeeper Johan Garibay had four saves, while Portland's Jacopo Viola made one.
