SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Gonzaga Men's soccer team fell at Santa Clara Sunday, 2-0.
The Broncos (2-5-0, 2-3-0 West Coast Conference) scored their first goal in the 78th minute when Oladayo Thomas, assisted by Cole Motooka, had his first goal of his season. Just two minutes later, Javier Ruiz Duran assisted Caden Buckley for his second goal of the season. The Bulldogs (2-8-0, 0-5-0 West Coast Conference) weren't able to get a goal in the final 10 minutes.
Santa Clara led offensively throughout the entire game having a total of 10 shots, six of which were on goal. Gonzaga had eight attempted shots, three were on goal. The Bulldogs had an advantage in corner kicks, 7-4.
Gonzaga's goalkeeper Johan Garibay had four saves, while Santa Clara's Andreu Cases Mundet made three saves.
The Zags next host San Diego Saturday at 11 a.m.
