LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Gonzaga men's tennis team finished the third day of the Easley Memorial Classic with a title in the doubles bracket.
In the finals match,
Matthew Hollingworth and
Sasha Trkulja defeated San Diego State University, 8-6. The pair went undefeated on the weekend. There was also an added doubles match for GU as
Tom Hann Pablo Gomez Galvan defeated Thomas UNLV 8-4.
In the singles finale, the Bulldogs had two paired against each other. Gomez Galvan and Hann competed for the singles title and Gomez Galvan won the first set, 6-1. In the second set, Hann had a 5-4 lead before he had to retire the match, making Gomez Galvan the champ.
The other competitor for the Zags was Trkulja, who fell, 6-3, 6-4, to the No. 1 seed, Christopher Bulus of UNLV in his singles bracket.
NEXT UP
Gonzaga takes a little break before competing at the UA Wildcat Invitational on Oct. 1-3 in Tucson, Ariz. The team will also be at the ITA All-American Championships during the same time. The tournament takes place in Tulsa, Okla., from Oct. 2-10.
