THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs travel to Saint Mary's this Saturday, Jan. 22, for a 1 p.m. tipoff. 
- Gonzaga is coming off a 68-59 over the University of Portland. This was the second victory over the Pilots this year for the Bulldogs. Senior Cierra Walker led the Bulldogs with 15 points as she scored nine points from the beyond the arc. 
- Senior Melody Kempton leads the team with 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She also leads the WCC in field goal percentage with 57 percent. 
- Junior Kayleigh Truong is right behind Kempton with 11.1 points and 3.6 assists per contest. Junior Kaylynne Truong leads the team in assists with 3.8 a game. Sophomore Yvonne Ejim has a team-high 24 steals and ties senior Anamaria Virjoghe with 22 blocks.
- GU is forcing an average of 14.2 turnovers per game and a total of 241 so far this season.
- The Zags are averaging 40.18 rebounds a game and a 10.6 rebound margin, which ranks sixth in the nation and first in the WCC.
- Offensively, Gonzaga averages 68.9 points per game and has an average margin of victory of 17.6 points over WCC teams so far this year. 
- The Zags ranked 22nd in the nation and first in the WCC in three-point field-goal percentage with 36.1 percent. The team also ranks first in the conference in scoring defense with 56.5 points along with first in free throws made with 222 so far this season. 
- The Bulldogs will face six teams that were part of the 2021 NCAA Tournament during the 2021-22 campaign. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year under head coach Lisa Fortier.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and seven letterwinners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' fifth consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title.
-The Zags won their ninth WCC Tournament Title in 2021 with a thrilling victory over BYU in the championship game.

SCOUTING THE GAELS
- SMC is currently 9-6 overall and 3-1 in WCC play. The team is on a two game winning streak with wins over Pepperdine and San Diego. The one conference loss was against Brigham Young, when the Gaels fell 78-36 on the road.
- Saint Mary's is coming off a 79-71 win over San Diego from Thursday night. Ali Bamberger lead the team by scoring 21 points as Madeline Holland secured her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- Bamberger leads the team overall with 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds a game, which ranks second in the West Coast Conference. She also has a team-high 12 blocks and 12 steals this year. 
- SMC and Gonzaga had two common foes in the non-conference slate as Saint Mary's defeated UC Davis 52-50 and fell to Utah, 92-50.
- The Gaels averaged 65.8 points and 39.3 rebounds a game this season.
