SEATTLE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team traveled across the state to take on No. 1 ranked University of Washington and fell 3-0.
In the first half, the Zags took two shots from
Frankie Ljucovic and
Victor Gadea as the Huskies recorded 10.
UW got on the board in the 36th minute when Nick Scardina scored at the bottom center of the goal with the assist coming from Imanol Rosales.
After 45 minutes, Washington was up 1-0 while goalkeeper
Johan Garibay recorded four saves in the opening half.
The Huskies scored two more times in the second half to extend their lead to 3-0. In the 61st minute, Scardina scored again with assists from Rosales and Lucas Meek. In the 76th minute, Ilijah Paul found the back of the net with another assist coming from Rosales.
Overall, GU was outshot 13-6 with the Zags recording two shots on goal compared to UW's seven.
Demitrius Kigeya led the team with three shots and one of those on goal. Ljucovic was right behind him with two shots with one of those also being on goal.
Records: Washington improves to 12-0-1 on the year and extends its winning streak to eight games. Gonzaga moves to 4-8-1 overall this season.
