Gonzaga vs. Okotoks Baseball Club (Fall Exhibition)
FRIDAY, OCT. 7 | 5:30 P.M. | AVISTA STADIUM | SPOKANE, WA
Okotoks Baseball Club, based in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, is part of the Western Canadian Baseball League. In the 2022 season, the Dawgs broke the WCBL record for wins in the regular season with 43 en route to the franchise's sixth league championship.
The Zags are coming off their second consecutive season with a West Coast Conference title, a win in an NCAA Regional and a Top-25 ranking in 2022 — their 37 wins that season were the fifth-most in program history and the most ever under Coach Machtolf. GU has won at least 30 games in the last six full seasons it's played.
Two weeks ago, D1Baseball.com ranked Gonzaga No. 49 in its Fall 2022 Program Rankings, based on the program's body of work in its last five seasons. GU was No. 73 in 2019's ranking.
"Since 2016, Gonzaga has been the premier program in the West Coast Conference, and it's not particularly close," wrote D1Baseball's Aaron Fitt in describing the Zags. "… the state of the program remains very strong."
