SPOKANE, Wash.- Gonzaga Baseball (28-17, 16-5 WCC) dropped their weekend first series in two months, losing Sunday's series finale against Santa Clara (18-28, 7-14 WCC) by a score of 12-4.
The Broncos had 19 hits in the contest, tied for the fourth most hits by an opposing team at Patterson Baseball Complex and tied for the most hits given up at home by Gonzaga since 2013.
Santa Clara opened the game with two runs, taking advantage of four hits in the first inning. The Broncos added to the lead in the second inning after Will Anderson drove in three runs after hitting a double with the bases loaded.
Ryder Young hit a home run for the third straight game, adding two runs for the Zags in the fourth inning when he hit another homer to left field.
 Gonzaga scored another two runs in the fifth inning as Tommy Eisenstat and Jacob Wrubleski scored on three straight GU hits. Santa Clara responded by scoring six unanswered runs.
Gonzaga had won seven straight weekend series before today's loss, last dropping a weekend series in the first weekend of March. Gonzaga will look to return to winning ways when they take on Washington State at home at 4pm on Monday.
