SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's soccer recorded their sixth shutout of the season in a 2-0 road victory at San Diego Saturday. GU is unbeaten in its last seven matches and is now 5-0-0 in true road games this season.
The Zags (7-2-3, 2-0-1 West Coast Conference) have outscored opponents 20-2 in their last seven games. Gonzaga's two losses are to currently ranked teams, No. 13 Creighton (1-0) and No. 23 Texas (3-2).
Saturday, the Bulldogs outshot USD 19-13, including 7-4 in shots on goal. Sixty-six percent of GU's possession was on the attacking side of the field.
Gonzaga's
Willow Collins scored her first collegiate goal in the 33
rd minute, sliding a shot with the outside of her foot to the far post.
Lauren Elwer was credited with the assist.
In the 55
th minute,
Hannah Gray struck a shot from well outside the box into the net for her second goal of the season.
Sophine Kevorkian made five saves for the Toreros (2-8-3, 0-3-0 WCC), while
Lyza Bosselmann had four for GU.
