No. 23 WBB Rolls by Maine, 62-43

The Zags go on a two-game road trip to Stephen F. Austin and No. 2 Stanford next

SPOKANE, Wash. – The No. 23 Gonzaga women's basketball team had four players score in double figures in a 62-43 win over Maine on Monday evening.

Kaylynne Truong led the way with 15 points for GU and Brynna Maxwell was right behind her with 13. Yvonne Ejim and Eliza Hollingsworth both scored 10 points with Ejim grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Calli Stokes also recorded a career-high seven rebounds for Gonzaga.
 
In the first quarter, the Bulldogs (6-1) took a 15-14 lead with both Ejim and Stokes scoring four points. The Zags shot at 50 percent from the floor and forced six turnovers from the Black Bears (3-4).
 
GU kept the pace in the second quarter by outscoring Maine 17-8. Hollingsworth led the way with six points by going 2-for-2 from the three-point line. On the glass, the Zags outrebounded Maine, 11-4.
 
At the half, Gonzaga led, 32-22, and was shooting at 48 percent from the floor. Hollingsworth and Kaylynne Truong both had eight points with Ejim right behind them with six.
 
Gonzaga outscored Maine 17-9 in the third quarter and outrebounded the Black Bears, 11-5. The Zags took a 49-31 lead into the final quarter after shooting at 58.3 percent in the third.
 
The Bulldogs closed out the game with 13 points compared to Maine's 12. Destiny Burton and Ejim led the team with four points apiece as the Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the three-point line.

Overall, Gonzaga outrebounded the Black Bears 41-24. The Bulldogs shot 47.2 percent while holding Maine to 34.7 percent. Gonzaga scored 32 points inside the paint and grabbed nine steals on the night.  

Records: This marked the first meeting between the two programs as GU takes an 1-0 lead overall against the Black Bears.
 
From the Three: Brynna Maxwell has made a three pointer in every game so far this year. Prior to this game, she was shooting 57.1 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the West Coast Conference and third nationally.
