WBB Hosts San Francisco on Monday

THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs host the University of San Francisco this Monday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
- Gonzaga is coming off a tough loss to No. 16 BYU. After having a 15-point halftime lead, the Zags fell to the Cougars 62-50. Gonzaga was led by senior Melody Kempton, who scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior Cierra Walker, junior Kayleigh Truong and sophomore Yvonne Ejim all scored nine points for the Zags. BYU was paced by Paisley Harding, who scored 22 points for the Cougars.
- Kayleigh Truong leads the Zags with 11.1 points a game and Melody Kempton is right behind her with 10.7 points and a team-leading 6.2 rebounds a game. Kaylynne Truong and Kayleigh Truong are both averaging 3.5 assists a game as Kayleigh had to miss three games earlier this season due to an injury. Anamaria Virjoghe has a team-high 28 blocks this season as Yvonne Ejim leads the team with 32 steals, 27 blocks and averages 5.5 rebounds a game.
- Cierra Walker is ranked 20th in the country and first in the WCC in three-point field-goal percentage as she has averaged 43.5 percent this year.
- Melody Kempton is currently ranked second in the conference in field-goal percentage at 55.1 percent.
- From the charity stripe, the Zags are first in the WCC in free throws made (297) and free-throw percentage (77.1), which also ranks 11th in the nation.
- Defensively, the Bulldogs are first in the conference in scoring defense with 55 points, which is also good for 23rd in the country.
- The Zags are averaging 40.3 rebounds a game and a 10.1 rebound margin, which ranks seventh in the nation.
- In conference games won this year, GU has an average margin of victory by 20.4 points.
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year under head coach Lisa Fortier.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and seven letterwinners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' fifth consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title.
-The Zags won their ninth WCC Tournament Title in 2021 with a victory over BYU in the championship game.

SCOUTING THE DONS
- USF is currently 12-11 overall and 6-5 in the WCC. The team is currently on a two-game winning streak with victories over San Diego (61-48) and Pepperdine (78-57).
- The Dons had two common non-conference foes with Gonzaga as they took on Washington State and lost 72-58 along with UC Davis and won 73-46.
- San Francisco is led by Ioanna Krimill, who averages 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. Her scoring currently ranks her fourth in the WCC.
- Kennedy Dickie leads the Dons in boards with an average of 6.7 a game. Dickie has also recorded four double doubles so far this season.
- Jessica McDowell-White has had a team-high 30 steals the season while Lucika Kostic has recorded 14 blocks.
- USF is 3-8 on the road this year with a win at USC (78-63), Tulsa (78-76) and Saint Mary's (70-56).
