Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Today's competitive match saw the Zags come back from being down twice to get the victory over UTSA. This victory extends the Bulldogs winning streak to four, which is the longest Gonzaga women's tennis winning streak since the 2019-2020 season.
Three close matches within the doubles competition began today's action. Gonzaga's Jenna Sloan and Frederikke Svarre started strong on court three, defeating UTSA's Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eva Beyebach 6-3. UTSA eventually tied the doubles competition, as Aleksandra Zlatarova and Keegan McCain earned UTSA the 6-4 victory over Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska on court one. In the No. 2 spot, UTSA's Jasmin Starr and Sophie Omoworare clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Gonzaga's Tiegan Aitken and Kianna Oda.
Gonzaga quickly tied the team score 1-1, as Caroline Wernli won her match by default. UTSA once again reclaimed the lead with Starr's 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sosnowska on court two. In spot No. 4, Oda helped Gonzaga tie the team score 2-2 with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Beyebach.
The Bulldogs would go to take the last three team points, starting with a 6-3, 6-4 win by Aitken over Omoworare on court five. In spot No. 3, Gonzaga clinched the match with Sloan's 6-3, 7-6 victory over Bobrovnikova. Finally, in one of the most competitive matches of the event, Broerman helped Gonzaga earn their fifth and final team point with a 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 victory over Zlatarova.
Up next: After today's loss, the UTSA women's tennis team stays home for a match against Liberty on Sunday, March 13th at 2 pm. The Gonzaga women's tennis team also stays in Texas following today's win, as they face the University of Houston on Friday, March 11th and Texas State on Saturday, March 12th. This is the only time this season where the Gonzaga women's tennis team will have a match on three consecutive days.
