SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga volleyball announced the addition of Vancouver, Wash. standout Tyra Schaub Friday, adding a highly-touted in-state prospect to the squad for the 2022 season. Schaub is the third signee for the Bulldogs' incoming class.

A four-year All-League varsity player for Skyview, Schaub took home a plethora of honors by the time her high school career was complete. An Under Armour All-American Selection Nominee, the 6-foot outside hitter was also named to the AVCA All-American Third Team while taking home Greater St Helen's League All Region Player of the year honors and GSHL player of the year twice.
"I chose Gonzaga because they not only offer amazing academics but an exceptional volleyball program that sets their athletes up for success on and off the court," Schaub said of her decision to join the Zags. "The coaches and the girls were very open and accepting and it truly felt like home.
"I am born and raised in Washington and I am very proud to be a Zag!
Schaub's been on the national radar since a club season in 2019 that ended with a district's Co-Player of the Year award, after which she was also included on the AVCA Under Armour All American Phenom List and on PrepDig.com's class of 2022 watchlist.
PrepDig's analysis of Schaub says that she "has one of the heaviest arms in the entire state and her hits are rarely touched by blockers or defenders before they hit the court … Schaub clearly knows a big deal about volleyball and that knowledge and her superior technique positively impact her performance in basically every skill of the game, making her a superior passer, defender and blocker too."

I'm beyond excited to get into the gym and help take the Zags volleyball program to the next level."
