SPOKANE, Wash. – Earlier today, the Gonzaga men's tennis team had a home match against the University of the Pacific, and clinched a 4-0 victory. The Zags have won eight of their past nine matches and have a 5-2 record against WCC opponents this year.
Starting out with the doubles competition, Gonzaga earned an early victory when Theo McDonald and Tom Hann defeated Pacific's Coby McCaig and Aleska Mardjonovic 6-2 on court three. The doubles point was clinched for Gonzaga when Matthew Hollingworth and Arthus De La Bassetiere earned a 7-5 victory over Pacific's Peter Alam and Manroop Saini.
Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja and Oliver Andersson's court two match against Pacific's Brandon Park and Ran Amar went unfinished, as Gonzaga had already clinched the doubles competition.
Gonzaga extended their lead when Hollingworth defeated Mardjonovic 6-0, 6-1 on court three.
In the No.5 spot, McDonald earned a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over McCaig. Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan clinched the match for Gonzaga when he defeated Saini 6-2, 6-1 on court six.
After clinching the 4-0 victory, all other singles matches for Gonzaga went unfinished.
Up next: The Gonzaga men's tennis team have their final home match of the regular season against Saint Mary's (CA) University on Saturday, April 16th at 11 a.m. Historically, the Bulldogs are 4-11 against the Saint Mary's men's tennis team, but they have won three of their last five matchups against the Gaels.
