SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga's Cade McGee picked up two more national honors for his breakout freshman season on Friday, being named one of 10 position players on the Freshman All-America Second Team for both D1Baseball.com and Baseball America, voted on by the publications' editors and national writers.
These are the second and third Freshman All-American honors of the year for McGee — he and Enzo Apodaca were both named Freshman All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper three weeks ago. McGee was one of just two freshman third basemen to make the cut in both lists.
Following a season in which he batted .298 and slammed a team-high 10 home runs to go with 62 hits and 31 RBI, McGee was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year and made the league's Honorable Mention list. He finished the year with 15 doubles, third-most on the team, as well as the Bulldogs' second-best OPS (.907) and slugging percentage (.514).
