Trujillo Scores Last-Minute Goal to Propel Zags Over Marist College, 2-1

Gonzaga picks up its first program win over the Red Foxes

SPOKANE, Wash. – Wylie Trujillo scored the game winning goal in the 89th minute to give the Gonzaga men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Marist College. Demitrius Kigeya dished a passed to Trujillo to set up the game winner from just beyond the box for the Zags in the final minute of the contest.
 
Gonzaga hands Marist its first loss of the season as the Red Foxes are now 3-1-1 overall. The Bulldogs move to 2-5-0 with both wins coming on Luger Field.
 
GU got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Logan Dorsey in the 28th minute. Kigeya also assisted on the score as he passed it to Dorsey, who raced ahead of all of Marist's defenders and found the back of the net to give Gonzaga the 1-0 lead.
 
Marist evened the game in the 34th minute by a goal from Cruz Mar and assisted by Jared Juleau, to make it 1-1.
 
After the first 45 minutes the game was tied at 1-1 as Marist took six shots compared to GU's five.
 
The game remained tied at 1-1 until the 89th minute when Trujillo scored his first goal of the season. Kigeya's two assists puts him at a team-leading three assists on the year as this marks the first game in his career that he has recorded multiple assists.
 
Kigeya led the team with four shots on the night with three of those on goals. Dorsey was right behind him with three shots and two of those on target.
 
Overall, the Zags took 10 shots and the Red Foxes took 11. Johan Garibay earned the win with three saves in the net.
 
Records: The Zags move to 2-5-0 overall and the Red Foxes fall to 3-1-1 overall. The Zags also earned its first win over Marist and now sit at 1-1 in program history.
