BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team wrapped up the four-game road trip at CSU Bakersfield and fell, 1-0, to the Roadrunners.
In the first half, GU took four shots, led by
Loic Baures with two.
Demitrius Kigeya and
Frankie Ljucovic each took one in the opening half.
The Roadrunners scored first in the 20th minute with a header goal from Shammai Camara following a corner kick. The goal was assisted by Jacob Fitzgerald to give CSU Bakersfield the 1-0 lead.
Goalkeeper
Johan Garibay recorded three saves in the first half, with one of those coming directly after CSU Bakersfield scoring.
The Zags had their best opportunity in the 75th minute as the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty kick. Ljucovic took the shot, but hit the crossbar and narrowly missed the equalizer.
Ljucovic had another shot on goal in the 78th minute, but CSUB was able to make the save.
Overall, the Bulldogs took seven shots on the night compared to CSUB's 11. Garibay recorded five saves as Ljucovic led the team with three shots as two of those were on goal.
Records: The Zags move to 0-4-0 overall this season and the Roadrunners have evened their overall record over GU at 3-3. CSU Bakersfield also improves to 2-2-0 on the year.
