No. 17/18 WBB Travels to Santa Clara this Thursday

The Zags continue their two-game road trip to San Francisco this Saturday

THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball team goes on the road to Santa Clara University this Thursday, Feb. 2. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. in the Leavey Center. 
- GU is coming off an 67-49 win over Pepperdine on Jan. 28 to remain a perfect 11-0 in the WCC. Brynna Maxwell made six straight behind the arc and scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Zags to their 14th-straight victory.
- The Zags have three players currently averaging double digits in so far this season, including Yvonne Ejim (16.5), Kaylynne Truong (15.8), and Brynna Maxwell (14.6). Ejim currently is third and Truong is fifth in the WCC in scoring. Maxwell also is 10th in the conference.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 79.3 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks fourth in the country. Brynna Maxwell leads the team individually with 96.4  percent, which leads the conference and is second in the nation. She currently has only missed two free throws so far this year. 
- Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 51.6 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the country. 
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting a record breaking 40.6 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked first in the nation. 
- Kaylynne Truong is currently dishing out 5.5 assists a game to rank first in the conference and 21st in the country. Overall, she has recorded 126 assists which is good for 12th in the nation. She has also scored in double figures in 13-straight games, and 20 games total this year.
- Gonzaga is on an 14-game winning streak with its last loss being against No. 2 Stanford on Dec. 4. The streak ranks fourth in the country as the team sits in first-place in the WCC. The Zags are also undefeated at home this year at 12-0 and has won 17-straight in the Kennel. 
- GU is ranked 29th in the country in scoring margin with 14.3 points and 28th in field goal percentage with 45.7 percent. 
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Seniors Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and junior Yvonne Ejim were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This will be the 76th matchup between the two programs and the Zags hold a 46-29 record over the Broncos.         
STREAK: Gonzaga - 14      
FIRST MEETING: In 1988, the Zags won 59-45 at home.        
LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs defeated the Broncos at home earlier this year, 78-61. Yvonne Ejim recorded a double double and Brynna Maxwell led the way with 17 points.   

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
- Santa Clara is led by freshman Tess Heal. Heal has played this season as one of the best freshmen not only in the WCC, but as one of the best in the nation. Her 16.0 points per game is ranked sixth among all freshmen in the country. No freshman in any of the West Region's Division I conferences (WCC, Pac-12, Mountain West, Big West, Big Sky, WAC) is scoring higher than her. Heal's 4.1 assists per game are ranked seventh in the country among freshmen.
- The Broncos are currently 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the conference. The team is coming off a 74-66 loss at San Francisco on Jan. 28. Prior to that loss, the team won three-straight against Pacific, San Diego and BYU.
- Two other players are averaging in double figures for the Broncos including Ayzhiana Basallo (10.5) and Lara Edmanson (10.1). Edmanson is also leading the Santa Clara in rebounds with 6.6 a game.
