THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball continues West Coast Conference play this Saturday, Jan. 7 versus Santa Clara. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.Â
- GU is currently a perfect 9-0 at home this season and is coming off a 62-53 win over San Francisco on Thursday.
Kaylynne Truong had 17 points and a career-high nine assists and
Yvonne Ejim recorded a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Zags.
Eliza Hollingsworth also scored 13 points with eight rebounds for Gonzaga. The game saw 10 ties and five lead changes before the Zags took control in the fourth quarter to secure the win.Â
- The Zags have four players currently averaging double digits in the first 16 games of the season, including
Yvonne Ejim (16.5),
Kaylynne Truong (16.1),
Brynna Maxwell (14.4), and
Eliza Hollingsworth (11.1). Ejim currently is fourth and Truong is fifth in the WCC in scoring. Maxwell also is ninth in the conference.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 80 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks second in the country and first in the West Coast Conference.
Brynna Maxwell leads the team individually with 97.9 percent, which leads the nation.

Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 53.3 percent from the three-point line to rank first in the country.Â
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 41.2 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked third in the nation and first in the WCC.Â
- Gonzaga is currently on an 8-game winning streak with its last loss being against No. 2 Stanford on Dec. 4.Â
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.

Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22.

Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.

- The Broncos are currently 10-7 overall and 1-3 in the West Coast Conference.Â
- Santa Clara and Gonzaga are both tied right now in the WCC for most points per game with 73.6.Â
- Santa Clara is led by freshman Tess Heal, who averages 16.6 points a game, which is third in the conference. The next best scorer for the Broncos is Ayzhiana Basallo, who averages 10.5 per game. Â
- SCU is coming off a 81-71 loss at Portland on Thursday. Heal led Santa Clara with 23 points, her sixth 20-point game of the season. She had a game-high 19 at halftime on 7-for-9 shooting, but the Pilots shut her down in the second half, holding her to just 2 for 10 from the field. She also added eight rebounds and five assists.
- The one conference win for the Broncos was against LMU on Dec. 19. The other two losses for the team were versus Pepperdine on Dec. 17 and San Francisco on Dec. 31.Â
