TULSA, Okla. -- Earlier this afternoon, Gonzaga graduate student
Matthew Hollingworth performed in the singles competition at the ITA All-Americans. Today's action marks the third consecutive season the Zags have participated in the tournament, with multiple Zags having earned singles victories in last year's performance.
In his opening round singles match against Baylor's Justin Braverman, Hollingworth came back after losing the first set 4-6, winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match. Entering the match, Braverman had only lost eight singles matches across his collegiate career. With the win, Hollingworth now ranks top-ten for career singles victories and tournament wins in program history.
In the second round, Hollingworth had another three set battle but fell 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, to Liberty's Luis Felipe Miguel.
