PORTLAND, Ore. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team traveled to No. 9 Portland in a midweek game and fell 5-0.
Portland (10-3, 3-1 West Coast Conference) scored its first goal in the 17th minute with a score from Sebastian Hernandez and assisted by Nicholas Denley.
The Zags (3-6-6, 1-2-1 WCC) had one shot in the opening half and trailed the Pilots 1-0 after 45 minutes.
In the second half, Jacob Babalai scored twice to increase Portland's lead to 3-0. In the 76th minute, Buba Fofanah scored to make it 4-0 with an assist from Kevin Bonilla. The Pilots scored its last goal in the 79th minute from Nicholas Dunbar.
The Pilots outshot Gonzaga 14-3 as the Zags had one shot on goal compared to UP's seven.
