THE TIPOFF
- The Gonzaga women's basketball team travels to Montana for its regular season opener. The Zags dominated their exhibition game versus Warner Pacific, 95-32. Going into the season, the Bulldogs are receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches Poll. 
- GU is coming off a 28-5 season. The Zags won the West Coast Conference Regular Season Title for the 18th time in program history by going 17-1 in conference play. 
- Gonzaga advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history and sixth-straight time under head coach Lisa Fortier. The Zags were seeded No. 9 and played No. 8 Ole Miss in the First Round at the Stanford region.
- The Zags ended the season with three players averaging double digits including Yvonne Ejim (16.8), Kaylynne Truong (15.8), Brynna Maxwell (13.5). All three return to GU this year.
- Last season, the Zags had a record breaking performance from the three point line. The team recorded a program record 40.5 shooting percentage, which led the country.
- Brynna Maxwell made a three-pointer in every regular season game last year and shot at 48.1 percent on the year to lead the nation for the majority of the season.
- Kaylynne Truong was one of 20 point guards in the country named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watchlist. Brynna Maxwell was also one of 20 shooting guards in the country named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watchlist.
- Yvonne Ejim, Brynna Maxwell and Kaylynne Truong were named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award. Gonzaga is the only team with multiple players on the watch list and becomes the first team to ever place three players on a single list.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received eight first-place votes that and totaled 64 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's nine head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place vote and was selected to finish second with 50 points, while Pacific and Santa Clara were both voted to finish third with 41 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 274-34 (.889) during the last 18 seasons, which includes 17 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Graduate students Brynna Maxwell, Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and senior Yvonne Ejim were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: The Bulldogs have played Montana every year since 2018 and the series is tied at 17-17 with Gonzaga winning the last 10 matchups. Lisa Fortier is 6-0 against the Griz as well.

FIRST MEETING: In 1981, GU lost to the Griz on the road, 82-55.    
LAST MEETING: The Zags defeated Montana last season in the McCarthey Athletic Center, 82-67.    

SCOUTING THE GRIZ
- The Lady Griz went 14-16 last year and finished fifth in the Big Sky with a 10-8 league record. Montana lost four league games by one or two points while finishing three games out of first place.
- Gfeller is a three-time All-Big Sky Conference selection, earning third-team honors as a sophomore, first-team as a junior, second-team last season.
- Fatkin, who graduated, was the only one of Montana's top nine scorers from last season that is not back in 2023-24. The Lady Griz return more than 80 percent of their scoring.
- Four starters – Gfeller, Marxen, Konig and Dani Bartsch – are back. Returning letter-winners Haley Huard, Keeli Burton-Oliver and Alex Pirog combined to make 38 starts last season.
- Montana averaged 70.3 points last season, the first time since 2007-08 that the Lady Griz averaged at least 70 points per game. … Montana made 238 3-pointers last season, one off the program record. The players who accounted for 209 of those makes return.
- Montana was picked third in both the Big Sky media and coaches' preseason polls, coming in behind Eastern Washington and Northern Arizona in the coaches' poll, behind Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington in the media poll. The Lady Griz picked up first-place votes in both polls.
