EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga women's tennis team battled Toledo during the final day of the Michigan State Hidden Dual. Today's action also concludes the Zags' 2023 fall tournament schedule, with the team having participated in four tournaments since the end of September.
Performing today exclusively in singles matches, the Zags got off to an excellent start when
Rose Hayes defeated Toledo's Shalini Tallamraju by a score of 7-5, 6-4. Shortly after, Gonzaga's
Emily Robertson lost 6-1, 6-2 to Toledo's Cassie Alcala. Gonzaga's
Kianna Oda clinched a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Toledo's Audrey Moutama. Facing Toledo's Gaby Rondon, Gonzaga's
Ella Nielsen battled, but lost 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets.
In the final three singles matches, the Zags earned impressive victories in dominant fashion. Battling Toledo's Sanjana Tallamraju, Gonzaga's
Tiegan Aitken picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win. Gonzaga's
Lia Espinal concluded an excellent start to her freshman season, clinching a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Jone Ibanez. In the final match of the day, Gonzaga's
Caroline Wernli claimed a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win against Toledo's Julia Kuszynski.

With today's action ending the Gonzaga women's tennis team's performance in the Michigan State Hidden Dual, it also concludes the 2023 fall tournament schedule for the Zags. A schedule for the spring dual season, including Gonzaga's conference matches, will be announced later this winter.
