THE TIPOFF
- Gonzaga women's basketball hosts Portland this Saturday, Feb. 11. Both teams are tied for first place in the West Coast Conference at 12-1. 
- GU is coming off a 78-56 road win at San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 4. Kaylynne Truong had seven 3-pointers and 27 points, both career highs, with six rebounds, five assists and three steals McKayla Williams made 3-of-4 three-pointers and scored 17 points for Gonzaga. Yvonne Ejim added 16 points with nine rebounds.
- The Zags have three players currently averaging double digits in so far this season, including Yvonne Ejim (16.9), Kaylynne Truong (16.3), and Brynna Maxwell (14.3). Ejim currently is third and Truong is fourth in the WCC in scoring. Maxwell also is 10th in the conference.
- The Bulldogs are currently shooting at a program record 79.8 percent from the free throw line, which also ranks third in the country. Brynna Maxwell leads the team individually with 95.2 percent, which leads the conference. She currently has only missed three free throws so far this year and has made 59. 
- Brynna Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game so far this season. Maxwell is shooting 52.2 percent from the three-point line to lead the nation. 
- As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting a record breaking 41.8 percent from beyond the arc, which is currently ranked first in the country. 
- Ejim leads the Zags in scoring with 16.9 points a game and has recorded four double doubles already this year. She has currently scored in double figures for 13-straight games and 22 times this season.
- Kaylynne Truong is currently dishing out 5.4 assists a game to rank first in the conference and 22nd in the country. Overall, she has recorded 134 assists which is good for 14th in the nation. She has also scored in double figures in 15-straight games, and 22 games total this year. She is 16 points away from scoring 1,000 career points. 
- The Zags are 26th in the country in field goal percentage with 45.8 percent. The mark is good for second in the WCC.
- Gonzaga has been without senior guard Kayleigh Truong and sophomore forward Maud Huijbens since Nov. 21. 
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Seniors Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and junior Yvonne Ejim were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. 
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs won the first contest at Portland on Jan. 14, 77-63. Brynna Maxwell led the way with 20 points with seven three-pointers.    

SCOUTING THE PILOTS
- The Portland Pilots are 18-6 overall and 12-1 in WCC play after an 83-80 win over the San Francisco Dons in overtime and an 80-68 win over the Santa Clara Broncos. The wins gave Portland their best WCC record since the 1996-97 season.
-The Pilots lead the WCC in steals per game (9.3), field-goal percentage (47.1%) and assists per game (17.2). Nationally, they're 17th in assists per game and 11th in field-goal percentage.
- Alex Fowler leads the WCC in field-goal percentage (60.7%), free throw attempts (132), free throws made (108), points per game (18.4), total points (442) and steals per game
(1.8). She is also seventh in assists per game (3.5).
- Nationally, Fowler ranks 12th in field-goal percentage, 22nd in total points and 23rd in free throws made.
- Lucy Cochrane also leads the WCC in total blocks with 31.
