HAMMOND, Louis. --  The women's tennis team had a nonconference dual match earlier this afternoon against Southeastern Louisiana. Today's match marked the first matchup between the Zags and Lions in program history.
 
Opening with the doubles competition, Southeastern Louisiana jumped to an early lead when Flory Bierma and Putri Insani defeated Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska 6-2 on court one. Gonzaga tied the doubles competition when Kianna Oda and Rose Hayes earned a 6-2 court two win against Southeastern Louisiana's Gabrielle Dekkers and Carla Del Barrio. In the No.3 spot, Gonzaga's Tiegan Aitken and Jenna Sloan clinched the doubles point for the Zags when they beat Southeastern Louisiana's Kate Oborina and Alba Perez by a score of 6-2.
 
Moving to the singles competition, Gonzaga earned victories in all completed singles matches. In the No.1 spot, Broerman earned an impressive 6-2, 6-2 win over Insani. Shortly after, Oda defeated Del Barrio by a score of 6-1, 6-4 on court three. Gonzaga clinched the team victory when Sloan earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Perez.
 
In the final singles match of the day, Hayes built on her excellent freshman season with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Suanarsa in the No.6 spot. With Gonzaga having already clinched the team victory, all other remaining singles matches went unfinished.
 
Up Next: Following today's match, the Zags will remain in Louisiana, as they are scheduled to face the University of Louisiana on March 15 at 2 p.m. Gonzaga will conclude their road trip to Louisiana on March 18, when they will play Tulane at 10 a.m. The Zags will return to the Stevens Center on March 29th to play Santa Clara at 4 pm.
