CORVALLIS, Ore. – Gonzaga Baseball plated the first run of the game in a midweek nonconference matchup with Oregon State at Goss Stadium Tuesday night, but the Beavers (21-11, 7-8 Pac-12) kept them off the board the rest of the way and exploded for 12 runs in the sixth and seventh innings to hand the Bulldogs (12-17, 8-4 WCC) a 15-1 loss on the road.
Sam Stem's two hits and one RBI paced a seven-hit night for the Bulldogs, with
Enzo Apodaca,
Brian Kalmer,
Mason Marenco,
Tyler Griggs and
Donovan Ratfield all adding one each.

Jacob Rutherford made his first start on the mound since March 25 for the Zags, holding the Beavers to just one run on two hits while striking out two. RHP
Payton Graham (3.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 3 BB), RHP
Everett Swaim (0.0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 BB), LHP
Matthew Mueller (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 K) RHP

With two outs on the board in the top of the first, Kalmer and Stem put together a solid one-two punch to plate the first run of the game, with Kalmer tripling to the centerfield wall and Stem following with an RBI single to get him across. But even as the Zags put a runner on third in the second and fourth, the Beavers managed to keep them from cashing in while pushing across 14 unanswered runs – including a six-spot in the sixth and five more in the seventh – to change the complexion of the game entirely. GU held the Beavers to five hits through five frames before they exploded for 11 over the next two innings.
Francis kept the Beavers off the board in the eighth with a pair of strikeouts, but GU's bats couldn't make up the difference late.
Tyler Griggs connected on a one-out pinch hit single through the right side and
Hank Dunn drew a two-out walk, but a grounder from Coballes ended the game.
