MISSION BAY Calif. – The Gonzaga men's rowing team wrapped up competition at the San Diego Crew Classic with a strong showing in the finals, finishing second and fourth overall. The finals field included UC San Diego, UCLA, San Diego, Purdue, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Southern California, UC Santa Barbara, and UCLA.

"We had another good day of racing," head coach Dan Gehn said. "These early season races are really valuable so we will build on that going forward."

In the 1V8 Men's Collegiate Varsity Cal Cup final, the Zags took second place with a time of 6.17.722 just short behind first place UC San Diego with a time of 6.14.702. UCLA came in third at 6:23.753 and San Diego came in fourth at 6:24.829. Behind them were Purdue, UC Davis, Southern California, and UC Santa Barbara.
 
Gonzaga's 2V8 boat placed fourth in the Men's Collegiate 2V Sharp Memorial Cup Final with a time of 6:24.992. Coming in first and second were California's two boats at 6:01.490 and 6:02.397 and in third was UC San Diego at 6:22.050. Finishing after Gonzaga were UC San Diego, UCLA, Purdue, and UC Davis. 
 
Up Next: The Zags head to Chula Vista, California to compete in the UCSD Invitational Challenge on April 15th and April 16th.
