IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over Gonzaga men's soccer Sunday.
The Anteaters (3-0-1) had 51 percent of the possession in the match and outshot GU 14-8. The Bulldogs had a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
Francesco Montanile opened the scoring for UC Irvine in the 15
th minute with assists to Samuel Atiye and Mario Anaya. Montanile assisted on the second goal to Mauricio Gutierrez in 51
st minute. Jake Means converted a penalty kick in the 64
th minute for his second goal of the season.
The Zags'
Jesse Riodil found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 74
th minute.
Drew Pedersen was credited with the assist on the rebounded goal.
Gonzaga (2-1-1) forced UC Irvine's Luke Pruter into five saves.
Wessel Sprangers made one save for the Bulldogs.
