Gonzaga Ties Cal State Fullerton, 1-1

Silva scores first collegiate goal

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's soccer drew even with Cal State Fullerton, 1-1, at Luger Field Thursday.
 
The Bulldogs (2-1-2) were outshot in the match 22-5, but took advantage of one of their three shots on frame. The Titans (2-2-1) placed seven shots on goal and had a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks.
 
After a scoreless first half, GU's Ian Silva found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career. The freshman struck in a score in the top center of the net in the 49th minute.
 
Three minutes later, Sulaiman Bah converted a penalty kick for Cal State Fullerton to even the score. It was his second goal of the season.
 
The Zags' Wessel Sprangers kept the Titans at one with six saves. Tetsuya Kadono had two saves for Fullerton.
 
Gonzaga remains at home and welcomes Seattle Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus with live stats on GoZags.com.
