No. 17/17 WBB Heads to Santa Clara on Thursday

The Zags are on the road for three-straight games

THE TIPOFF
- The No. 17/17 Gonzaga women's basketball team hits the road on Thursday to play Santa Clara. Tip off is slated for 4 p.m. at the Leavey Center.
- GU is coming off an 89-60 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday.  Kaylynne Truong hit seven 3-pointers and scored a season-high 25 points, while Yvonne Ejim added 22 points.
- Gonzaga is currently on a 29 home game winning streak. It ranks second in the country South Carolina (50). The Bulldogs have also won 12-straight games, which is the fourth-best in the nation only behind Fairfield (13), Kansas State (13) and South Carolina (17).
- Five Zags are averaging double digits in scoring including Yvonne Ejim (20.6), Brynna Maxwell (13.7), Kayleigh Truong (13.1), Kaylynne Truong (11.1), and Eliza Hollingsworth (10.3).
- Head coach Lisa Fortier currently sits at 251-61 in her career. Among active Division I coaches, she is fifth in winning percentage at 80.4%.
- Kaylynne Truong just become the new leader in games played at GU with 145 appearances.
- The Zags are fifth in the country in three-point percentage at 39.6%. GU's 48.9 field goal percentage also ranks 11th. From the free throw line, GU is third with 80.8%.
- Kaylynne Truong is sixth in the nation in assists with 121 so far this year along with 15th in the country in assists per game with 6.1. Both rank first in the WCC. 
- Yvonne Ejim is second in the country in field goals with 176 scored this season. Her 412 points scored this year ranks sixth in the nation. Ejim has also scored double figures for 26-straight games and has scored at least 20 points in 12 games this season. She is shooting at 65.4%, which ranks sixth in the country and first in the WCC.
- Yvonne Ejim has been named to the Becky Hammon Player of the Year Midseason Watch List. She has been WCC Player of the Week four times this season. She was also ESPN's Player of the Week and the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week (12/4). 
- Lisa Fortier was recently named to the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award preseason watch list. This year's watch list includes coaches from 16 conferences.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference this season by the league's coaches.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 274-34 (.889) during the last 18 seasons. 
- Last season, GU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs won 87-49 at home earlier this month on January 11. Yvonne Ejim scored 19 points, Eliza Hollingsworth added 18 against the Broncos.

- Santa Clara is averaging 70.7 ppg on the season on 430-percent shooting from the field and 34.6-percent from downtown. 
-The Broncos have a plus-5.8 rebound differential.
- Their 81.9 free throw percentage is No. 2 in the country. 
- Defensively, they are holding opponents to 56.8 ppg - Tess Heal is the leading scorer, averaging 18 ppg on 47.5-percent shooting from the field and is adding a team-high 4.2 apg. She is second in the country with 113 made free throws.
- Olivia Pollerd is second with 14.6 ppg and has added 4.6 rpg while knocking down a team-high 49 3-pointers, 24th nationally, for a 41.2-percent mark from deep.
