COLTON, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's rowing team began its fall schedule today with a regatta against Washington State, winning both flights at the Head of the Snake.
Pacing the first flight with a time of 16:40.0, the Varsity 8 boat finished more than 30 seconds ahead of WSU's V8 boat (17:12.1). Also in the opening heat for the Bulldogs were the 2nd Varsity 8 (17:30.4) and the Varsity 4 (21:13.0).
Gonzaga's Novice 8 boat (20:20.6) — the team's only representative in the second flight — won by nearly half a minute over WSU's N8 boat (20:47.3), despite receiving a 10-second penalty for missing a green buoy.
Up next: The Bulldogs will host the Head of the Spokane next Saturday, Oct. 19.
