STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific volleyball salvaged a weekend split, defeating Gonzaga 3-0 on Saturday inside the Alex G. Spanos Center. After falling to Washington State at home on Thursday, the Tigers bounced back with a big 25-16, 25-16, 25-11 win over the Bulldogs Saturday.
Pacific (12-6, 2-4 WCC) picked up their second West Coast Conference victory of the season in dominant fashion behind 18 kills from Alexa Edwards. The graduate hitter added ten digs for a double-double while hitting at a .438 clip. An even spread of kills in each of the three sets fueled the Tiger offense, while Emily Groningen and Margherita Giani combined for 15.
Despite some offensive woes, Gonzaga (1-14, 0-5 WCC) benefited from a mostly even spread of kills, led by freshman
Raechelle Dykstra with five.
Autumn Larson and
Maggie Rickert each added four apiece, while a trio of others notched two each.
Sets one and two were eerily similar, ending in 25-16 wins for Pacific. Despite a close battle for Gonzaga in both, two big runs by the Tigers made the difference, including a 7-0 stretch to open the match. Leading 2-0, Pacific came out firing in the third set to end any threat of a GU reversal. Edwards completed her day with seven kills in the final frame.

Gonzaga will stop at San Francisco next Thursday before returning home on Oct. 19 to face Oregon State inside the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre.
