CORVALLIS, Ore. – Just 12 days after a comeback win at Gonzaga inside the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre, Oregon State volleyball claimed a 3-0 victory to complete the season sweep over the Bulldogs on Thursday inside Gill Coliseum. The Beavers picked up back-to-back 25-14 wins in the opening two sets before capping off the sweep with a 25-22 win in a close third set.
 
Oregon State (7-13, 5-5 WCC) was led by Lauren Rumel on Thursday, who notched 20 kills on a .529 hitting percentage. As a team, the Beavers hit .339 while holding Gonzaga (1-19, 0-10 WCC) to just .192. Rumel was a clean 6-for-7 in the opening set, leading OSU to a 25-14 win. Maggie Rickert was the Gonzaga leader in set one with four kills.
 
The second set was nearly identical to the first, with Oregon State earning another 25-14 win behind six more kills from Rumel. The Beavers broke an 11-11 tie with a kill from Vivian Light to take the lead for good, but a lengthy 8-0 run late was the difference in the second, putting OSU at set point.
 
Gonzaga battled throughout the entirety of set three, but a late Oregon State surge and a final blow from Rumel would conclude the match. The Zags led by as many as three and never trailed by more than four in the final frame, but came up just short in the end. Rickert, Jody Smith, and Raechelle Dykstra each recorded three kills while GU hit .289 as a team in set three.
