PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's basketball team traveled to Stanford for a non-conference matchup and fell to the Cardinal, 89-58.
The Zags were led by
Allie Turner with 18 points, six rebounds and two assists. Stanford had four players in double figures, led by Jzaniya Harriel and Elena Bosgana with 12 points each.
Stanford jumped out to a 10-0 lead quickly in the first quarter and held a 48-24 lead at the half. Turner led the team with seven points with Ejim and McKynnlie Dalan both scoring six each in the first half.
The Cardinal outscored GU in the third quarter, 19-9 and kept their lead the rest of the way. Gonzaga kept chipping away though as the team won the fourth quarter, 25-22, with Turner scoring nine points alone in the final 10 minutes.
Overall, Gonzaga shot 35% while Stanford shot 46% and 54% from the three. The Bulldogs won the rebound battle, 36-34, with Ejim grabbing a team-high eight.
Records: Yvonne Ejim extends her lead of double digit scoring to 44-straight games as she recorded 12 points. She nearly had another double double with eight rebounds.
Allie Turner has scored double figures in both games of her college career so far, scoring 18 today.
