Box Score MORAGA, Calif. -- The Gonzaga men's soccer team stayed on the road to play Saint Mary's and came up short, 3-1.

The Gaels got on the board first in the opening half in the 10th minute with an unassisted goal from Cesar Batres, to give SMC the 1-0 lead.

GU's Ian Silva scored the equalizer in the 16th minute as Ben Augee dished the assist, to make it 1-1.

SMC responded just before the end of the half in the 44th minute with a goal from Owen Benson and Maxwell Farnum given the assist. The Gaels extended their lead in the last 15 seconds as Wade Muttitt found the back of the net.

Overall, Saint Mary's outshot Gonzaga 19-9. Silva led the Zags with three shots and two on target. Chema Preciado was in net for GU and recorded four saves on the day.
