GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Gonzaga's
Grace Lee finished in third place at the Bobcat Desert Classic at the Estrella Golf Club Wednesday. The annual tournament is hosted by Montana State University.
Lee opened the tournament carding a 68 (-4) in the first round, matching the second-lowest round by a Zag this season. She finished four-under (212) in the three-day event, following a 70 (-2) in Round 2 and a 74 (+2) in Round 3. The sophomore played a bogey-free opening round with four birdies and 14 pars. Her 42 pars in the tournament were the fifth-most in the 98-golfer field.
The Bulldogs placed eighth as a team at 10-over (874). GU totaled a 289 (+1) in both the first and second rounds, before a 296 (+8) in the final round.
Vanessa Zhang and
Taylor Mularski tied for 36
th and 38
th. Zhang was six-over (222), while Mularski was seven-over (223). Mularski started with a 70 (-2) in the first round, and Zhang was two-under (70) in the second round.
Esther Yoo (+9, 225) and
Darby Rickel (+12, 228) were 56
th and 68
th.
Grand Canyon held off Seattle for the team title. GCU was 11-under, while Seattle finished eight-under. Seattle's Rivekka Jumagulova took medalist honors at 12-under (204), and Constanza Guerrero of Grand Canyon was second at eight-under (208).
Gonzaga now heads to the West Coast Conference Championships April 19-21. This year's tournament is held at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
