In the first half, Gonzaga was awarded a penalty kick after St. Thomas was given a red card inside the box. Stefano Campisi took the shot for the Zags to put them on the board, 1-0, in the 20th minute.

The score remained the same at the end of the first half as the Zags outshot the Tommies 10-4. Campisi led the way with three shots and Chris Swider was right behind him with two. Gonzaga also held possession for 66% of the game while having three corner kicks compared to the Tommie's one.

Chema Preciado made two saves for GU to keep a clean score sheet in the first half.

The Bulldogs kept up the momentum in the second half with two goals from Alex Bazia, just minutes apart. The first goal came in the 49th minute as he dribbled around the goalie to find the back of the net to make it 3-1. In the 51st minute, Ben Augee dished the ball into Bazia and he dribbled around the goalie again to give Gonzaga a 3-0 lead. The two goals marked his first scores as a Bulldog for the freshman.

The Tommies got on the board off a corner kick in the 63rd minute as the ball bounced off a Zag into the net, making it 4-1.

In the 73rd minute, Talan Rochelle increased GU's lead to 5-1. Jesse Riodil made a pass to Rochelle from inside the box and Rochelle knocked it past the goalie to score his first goal as a Zag.

Drew Pedersen rounded out the scoring for the Zags in the 90th minute to make it 6-1 for Gonzaga.
