SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team recorded another win on Thursday night with a 2-0 victory over Incarnate Word with both goals coming from
Chris Swider. The Zags now sit at 3-0 on the season.
Gonzaga and Incarnate Word were both held scoreless in the first half, making it 0-0 after 45 minutes of play.
The Zags outshot the Cardinals 8-1, with
Alex Bazia taking three of them.
In the 69th minute, the Zags drew a foul right outside the left corner of the box.
Stefano Campisi kicked the ball into Swider, who headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 for Gonzaga.
Swider scored again for Gonzaga in the 79th minute.
Drew Pedersen dished the ball into the box for Swider to capitalize on the score to increase GU's lead.
Overall, the Bulldogs outshot Incarnate Word, 18-4, with five of those on goal. Swider and Campisi also led the way with four shots each while
Ben Augee and Bazia both had three.
Alejandro DeLaTorre also made three saves for the Cardinals while
Chema Preciado had one for the Zags.
Gonzaga had possession for 51% of the game and had six corners compared to Incarnate Word's three.
