SPOKANE, Wash. – Utah Valley picked up a 3-0 road win over Gonzaga women's soccer at Luger Field Sunday. Faith Webber recorded a brace for the Wolverines.
Webber's two goals came less than four minutes apart in the first half and got UVU (4-4-1) on the board early. Utah Valley entered the match receiving votes in the national rankings.
The Zags (3-4-1) outshot Utah Valley 21-11, with a 7-6 edge in shots on goal. GU also possessed the ball for 51 percent of the match. Both teams finished with five corner kicks.
Five of Webber's match-high seven shots were on frame. She opened the scoring in the 15
th minute heading in a cross from Mia Owens. In the 19
th minute, Webber scored her seventh goal of the season. Kate Shirts was credited with the assist. Quincy Bonds found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 75
th minute, with an assist to Sadie Beardall.
The Bulldogs forced UVU's CJ Graham into seven saves.
Lauren Towne made three saves for Gonzaga.
Paige Alexander led GU with five shots.
Marissa Garcia and
Emelia Warta both took four shots.
