FULLERTON, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team traveled to CSU Fullerton on Wednesday night and tied with CSF, 1-1.
At the half, both teams were held scoreless. The shots were also even at 9-9 as
Chema Preciado made two saves for Gonzaga. The Bulldogs also had five of those shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.
GU got on the board in the 52nd minute as
Ian Silva capitalized on a penalty kick that was drawn by
Alex Bazia.
CSF responded in the 62nd minute with a goal from Roberto Ordonez and the assist came from Fernando Valenzuela.
Sebastian Rangel had one more shot in the last second of the game that just barely missed the net to keep it at a 1-1 tie for the two teams.
Overall, Cal State Fullerton outshot Gonzaga 18-13, but GU had more shots on goal with six. Preciado made four saves on the night for the Bulldogs and
Drew Pedersen led the team with three shots and one on goal.
