SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team had its first loss of the season at Cal Poly, 3-0.
The Mustangs (2-3-1) scored their first goal in the 15th minute. Nico Baltazar scored the goal with the assists coming from Parker Owens and Quinn Mahoney.
At the half, the Zags (5-1-0) trailed 1-0.
Chris Swider recorded the first shot for the Zags in the ninth minute, but it was off target.
Stefano Campisi had a shot on goal in the 38th minute, but Nicky McCune was able to make the save for the Mustangs.
Cal Poly added to its lead in the 61st minute with a goal from Mahoney. The goal was assisted by Jack Muoio to make it 2-0 for the Mustangs. Their third goal was scored in the 86th minute from Colin Pearce with the assist from Armin Tehraini.
Overall, Gonzaga had 10 shots while Cal Poly recorded 18. Campisi led the way with three of them as one was on target. The Bulldogs drew seven corner kicks on the afternoon while Cal Poly only had three.
