SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga Volleyball Head Coach J.T. Wenger announced the signing of Sjakkie Donkers, an incoming sophomore outside hitter who played for Wenger at UT Arlington in 2024. Donkers is the first signee at GU for Wenger, who will take over the reins for the Bulldogs in January after eight seasons with the Mavericks.

Donkers signs with Gonzaga after an impressive freshman season with UT Arlington, where she was named Co-Freshman of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference. The Brabant, Netherlands-native finished second on the team in kills (289) behind a Maverick All-American in Brianna Ford. She averaged 2.98 kills per set on a .262 hitting percentage, adding 202 digs (2.15/set) and 30 total blocks. Her kill average ranked ninth in the WAC and she finished in the team's top five in five major stat categories. Earlier in 2024, Donkers played in the CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship for The Netherlands. She will arrive to Gonzaga this Spring.
