Turner Scores 23 to Propel WBB to 69-58 Win at LMU

Ejim becomes the record holder for career rebounds

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Allie Turner had a career-high of 23 points to lead Gonzaga to a 69-58 win over LMU for GU's sixth-straight win.

Yvonne Ejim made history in the fourth quarter as she grabbed her 984th rebound to now become the new leader in career rebounds at Gonzaga. She passed Kay Koppelman's record of 983 rebounds set from 1987-91.

Nearly three players had double doubles on the day for Gonzaga (12-8, 7-2 WCC). Turner led the team with 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Ejim was the other player in double figures with 19 and recorded eight rebounds. Esther Little led the team with 11 rebounds while also scoring eight points.

The Zags opened the game by outscoring LMU 17-15 in the first quarter with five different Bulldogs scoring. Ejim led the team with eight points as Little grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

LMU (6-9, 0-7 WCC) responded in the second quarter and tied the game at 32-32 right at the buzzer going into halftime.

After back-to-back three pointers, Turner led the Zags with 10 points in the first half. The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle by a wide margin, 23-10. Little led the team with eight rebounds as Ejim grabbed four herself in just 11 minutes of action.

Gonzaga and LMU were tied in the third quarter after both teams scoring 16. Turner went 3-for-6 from the floor and scored eight of those points for GU. Gonzaga continued dominating the boards, 13-8, with Turner grabbing five of those.

The Bulldogs took over in the fourth quarter and didn't allow any scoring from LMU in almost five minutes of the final frame. Gonzaga outscored LMU 21-10 overall in the final minutes to secure the double-digit win. Ejim led the scoring effort with seven points as Turner also had five.

GU had their best shooting performance in the fourth quarter at 53.3%. Overall, Gonzaga shot 42.2% and held LMU to 37%. The Zags dominated the boards by outrebounding the Lions, 45-21.

Notes:
- Ejim has scored double digits in 63-straight games. She has now scored 2,074 points in her career. She needs 92 more points to become first all-time, ahead of Heather Bowman's 2,165 (2006-10).

- Turner scored a career-high 23 points, breaking her previous best of 20.

- Ejim now holds the record for career rebounds all-time in rebounds with 985.
