SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis notched a 5-2 victory over Eastern Washington on Sunday at the Stevens Center, improving to 2-0 on the non-conference dual season.

Lia Espinal won their matches 6-2 to claim the point for the Bulldogs.

Brooke Bittner were ahead 5-3 over the Eagles when the point was clinched.
The Zags prevailed in four of the singles bouts, beginning with two quick sets by both Hesham (6-1, 6-3) and Bittner (6-2, 6-2). After Boulonois fell 6-4, 6-3 to EWU, Espinal outlasted her opponent in a second-frame tiebreaker to win 6-2, 7-6 (1). The final two singles matches went to a 10-point tiebreaker instead of a third set, with
Ella Nielsen surviving 10-7 and Hayes falling 10-6.
Up next: The Bulldogs will travel to Boise State (Jan. 26), New Mexico State (Jan. 31), and New Mexico (Feb. 2), before returning to the Stevens Center to face Air Force (Feb. 8) and UW (Feb. 9).
