Parker’s late goal was the equalizer
PULLMAN, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer picked up a point on the road with a 1-1 tie at Washington State Saturday.
The Zags (5-8-1, 3-2-1 West Coast Conference) earned their first draw of the season after a late goal from Alexis Parker. Her first goal of the season evened the score in the 83rd minute. The Illinois native kicked in a loose ball in front of the net for her third career score.
The Cougars outshot GU 14-12, but the Bulldogs had a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Washington State possessed the ball for 60 percent of the match and took all eight corner kicks in the match.
Gonzaga's Amelia Severn took a game-high four shots, with two on frame. The Bulldogs forced Zora Standifer into four saves in the WSU net, while Michaela McCollum had one save for the Zags.
Gonzaga hosts Santa Clara (6-6-2, 2-2-2) Wednesday at 6 p.m., in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPNU. The Broncos beat Oregon State Saturday, 3-1.
