Women’s Tennis Drops Dual to Grand Canyon, 4-1

Zags (5-4) host Montana and Seattle next weekend

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's tennis fell 4-1 to Grand Canyon on Saturday at Ronca Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs started strong, as Emily Robertson/Ella Nielsen won 6-1 and Norhan Hesham/Safien Boulonois survived a tiebreaker 7-6 (5) to claim the doubles point.

Moving to singles, the Antelopes clinched the overall match by downing Lia Espinal (6-2, 6-1), Nielsen (6-3, 6-2), Robertson (6-4, 6-3), and Hesham (6-3, 7-5). When the dual was called, Boulonois was in the third frame of a battle and Rose Hayes was leading in her second set.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs return home next weekend, hosting Montana (Feb. 28) and Seattle (March 2) at the Stevens Center. For those unable to attend, live video and stats will be available at GoZags.com.

MATCH NOTES
- GU women's tennis is now 5-4 this dual season, with wins over Michigan State, Eastern Washington, New Mexico State, New Mexico, and Air Force.
- This is the third straight defeat for the Bulldogs, who opened the season 5-1.
- Grand Canyon (5-4) faces Cal Poly on Sunday.
